Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a potential non-surgical solution to chronic injuries. Shockwave is a modality which uses acoustic waves to transmit high energy pulses to the injured tissue, stimulating the body’s own natural healing responses.  The acoustic waves are delivered from the shockwave applicator through a gel, similar to that used in an ultrasound. Despite the name, the treatment does not involve electrical stimulation.  It is especially useful in treating chronic tendon injuries by triggering a renewed healing response within the affected tissue.

Shockwave can be used to treat:

• Tennis / golfers elbow
• Achilles tendinosis
• Plantars fasciitis
• Rotator cuff tendinosis / calcific tendinitis
• Jumper’s knee
• Calcifications
• Trigger finger

Benefits of treatment can often be seen in as few as 1-3 treatment sessions.
