Vestibular Rehab
Vertigo / Dizziness / Balance Disorders:
Vestibular rehabilitation is specialized form of treatment that can be used to manage a wide variety of conditions and associated symptoms of vertigo, dizziness, or balance issues.
Our vestibular rehab program involves an in-depth assessment to determine the cause of your symptoms.
Once a diagnosis is made, a personalized treatment plan is developed specific to your condition and any underlying issues that may be leading to your ongoing symptoms.
Treatment often involves the use of habituation and gaze stabilization exercises which are designed to gradually habituate you to provoking stimuli and improve the steadiness of your vision while moving, helping to reduce symptoms.
In the case of BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), treatment is based on crystal repositioning maneuvers. A technique designed to remove displaced crystals, known as otoconia, from the semicircular canals of the ear.
BPPV is the most common cause of vertigo (room spinning symptoms) and the treatment is fast and highly effective.
Balance retraining is another component of the program, focusing on both static and dynamic balance with the goal of improving your confidence in your balance in any position and reducing the risk of a fall.
